Example of a Lesson Incorporating Technology

Lesson Objective: Students will use Area Model of Multiplication strategy to solve 2-digit times 2-digit multiplication problems.

Target Grade Level: 5th

Activities:
·      Direct Instruction incorporating vocab.
·      Poster with progression of steps with in model
·      Student participation – fill in the blank on rectangle of area model of multiplication
·      At stations review material and demonstrate understanding
o   1 & 2 – Make an Educreation video to teach others
o   3 & 4 – Flash cards  via Quizlet App available comp or iPads
o   Worksheet

Incorporation of Technology to:
Meet specific student needs
·      Student with Visual Impairment
o   Will sit upfront
o   Textbook and worksheets recopied with increased font size
o   PowerPoint will have very large font
§  Clear visual representing steps of the strategy (GIANT RECTANGLE)
o   Doc Cam (student participation)
§  Use LARGE markers
§  Contrasting background
·      ELL Student
o   Print poster with pictures of vocabulary
o   Clear visual representing steps of the strategy (GIANT RECTANGLE) on PowerPoint
o   Borrow voice recorder with stickers from EARTC so student can press circles on notes and hear pronunciation of words at own pace and/or repeated as necessary

  4. Nice incorporating the educreations technology. It's harder to get technology into math lessons! I like all the options the students and parents have to view their work again too!.
